'Grand Icon' is a development that gives something back to the city of Dublin.

WORK , REST + PLAY - Mixed-use
'Grand Icon' is a development that is at once a place to Live, a place to Work and a place to Socialise and Relax. A series of interconnected active spaces ensure a vibrant and lively character to the building 24 / 7.

CATALYST FOR URBAN RENEWALL - Hallmark
Occupying a key site in the city 'Grand Icon' will form the catalyst for urban renewall of the historic docks precinct and become an internationally renound Dublin landmark and tourist attraction.

GREEN + GREEN - Urban sustainability
'Grand Icon' is a building that collects, recycles and reuses water, generates it's own heat and electricity, and insulates and ventillates in harmony with the seasons. It is also a building characterised by trees and gardens. The primary structure is designed to allow the building to evolve through modification and adaptation to future uses without the need for demolition.

WIDE OPEN SPACE
The building is of significant height and density yet provides a substantial area of new raised public open space at the key vantage point of the junction between the Liffey and Dodder Rivers. An 'Aquacoustic Park' and a 'Child-care Garden' occupy the split level roof of the podium level. They also provide a viewing point through clear glass weather screens, over much of the docks .

U2 STUDIO
'Grand Icon' symbolises the union between U2 and their city. The building also symbolises the ongoing comittment the band have to social and environmental issues of a global scale.

AQUACOUSTIC PARK - sound + water
A new publicly accessible park marks the place between the tower and the podium. Water features in the park use the energy of flowing water to create a soundscape of rhythm and texture. This process utilizes the flow of greywater and rainwater and doubles as a filtering and purifying system. Importantly, visitors and occupants of the building engage with this sustainable system in an active way.
